Every business has its story and Carolyn’s is almost as unique as the store itself.

In December of 1996, Carolyn’s sister taught her the art of painting ceramic Santa’s. Carolyn had a knack for it and used her painting as her “therapy” to escape a school teaching job she loathed. Friends and family saw her work and encouraged her to market it. Thus Carolyn conceived the idea of a Christmas store. Her concern was whether one might work in such a small town. She decided just to try it in her home. With the help of her husband, Buck, she opened Carolyn’s Christmas Creations on the sun porch of her home in October of 1997. The response to this limited seasonal offering indicated a viable market. She moved the next season to a 1,000 square foot building which she rented in downtown Muleshoe. The next year she bought the building plus a 1,500 square foot building adjacent to it. She stayed at this location for the next four years. It was here she switched from a seasonal store to a full-year operation.

In 2002, Carolyn expanded again by buying and renovating the historic St. Clair Department Store in Muleshoe. She diversified from strictly Christmas to include antiques, art, rare books, fine furniture, bridal and baby items, jewelry, gourmet foods, fabulous music boxes, home décor, collegiate gifts, western décor and Texas souvenirs. And it is in this 13,000 square foot building Carolyn says she has found her home. “It’s the smartest business move I’ve ever made”, Carolyn stated. The business is thriving.

The store is truly a “diamond in the rough”. Many people do not expect to find such a store in a sleepy little town like Muleshoe but they keep coming back because the variety of merchandise is unlike any other and the one-of-a-kind pieces and customer service are unmatched.

Carolyn’s provides free gift wrapping and local delivery. Custom gift baskets and customized decorating are also provided. Complementary gourmet tea, coffee and cappuccino are made for her customers daily. Carolyn’s also hosts group parties (For a group of 10 or more, she provides refreshments, door prizes & discount shopping).

Carolyn’s also serves as the social hot spot for Muleshoe, providing annual events and promotions the whole town has come to enjoy. These events include:
